Ray Conniff's Christmas Album (Here We Come A-Caroling) Here We Come A-Caroling Silent Night, Holy Night God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen Away in a Manger Joy to the World Adoramus Te The Real Meaning of Christmas Go Tell It on the Mountain What Child Is This? O Tannenbaum It Came Upon the Midnight Clear O Little Town of Bethlehem Recorded in 1965, this was Ray's third and final Christmas album for Columbia. It was originally released as Here We Come A-Caroling and featured no cover photo (below left). In the late 1960's, the album was retitled Ray Conniff's Christmas Album with the cover above. In 1996, the CD was reissued by Sony Special Products with a new cover (below, right). This CD can be purchased from Amazon . In interviews, Ray stated that Mitch was ecstatic with the sound of the wordless male chorus Ray used on Don Cherry's "Band Of Gold" (rec. Oct 17, 1955) and immediately offered Ray an opportunity to record solo with his orchestra and chorus. However, the files at Columbia show that Ray recorded his arrangement of "Begin the Beguine" on October 7, 1955 (during an Eileen Rodgers session), a full 10 days before the Don Cherry session...
